The Workshop Essential Rare Works Collection in Biodiversity: governance, operation and digitization will take place in São Paulo (SP), Brazil, from February 3rd to 5th, 2010, with the objective to debate, evaluate and exchange information, experience and knowledge on digitization of rare works, defining processes and procedures for the creation and operation of Essential Rare Works Collection in Biodiversity, based on national library collections.

The workshop is part of the Digitization and Online Publication of Essential Rare Works Collection in Biodiversity from the Brazilian Libraries Project, which is sponsored by the Ministério do Meio Ambiente, FAPESP (through Programa SciELO, Biblioteca Virtual FAPESP and Programa BIOTAFAPESP), Associação Memória Naturalis, Museu de Zoologia da USP, BIREME/PAHO/WHO and a network of libraries that hold biodiversity collections.
Attendance
The workshop is aimed at technical groups of institutions involved in the project, including the Biodiversity Heritage Library (BHL), Ministério do Meio Ambiente, Museu de Zoologia da USP, BIREME/PAHO/WHO, libraries' network with biodiversity collections and other partner institutions of the Digitization and Online Publication of Essential Rare Works Collection in Biodiversity from the Brazilian Libraries Project.
